I may chat about my books, what I'm writing or reading, or just general thoughts. You may read posts about my cats or just my crazy life in general. Comments are welcome, if anyone wants to interact with me. Maybe we can share war stories, whether it's writing related or just about life in general.

Tootie is 12 today!

This little, mellow girl is twelve today.  She is very sweet but loves to eat and is getting fat so lately I started calling her Ms. Wattles.  I wrote a short story a year or so ago about her opening up a "treat cart."  I'll have to post that one day.  These cats give me plenty of story ideas all the time.

Can you imagine doing the Heimlich maneuver on a cat?

Well my youngest is a daredevil and climbs about anything.  This is a pic of her walking the balcony railing. She jumped off this balcony as a kitten and broke two teeth we had to have removed.

Well she was gobbling down cat treats yesterday and not bothering to chew them up and almost choked to death.  My husband squeezed her around the chest and finally they flew out after her eyes were rolling back in her head.

That cat is always scaring me to death!

The Remote Control

How does anyone watch TV with their husbands?

I swear this is an impossible thing to do when he has control of the remote, which is like an additional appendage.  I don’t think I’m the only one, but this drives me absolutely crazy!

My husband takes the remote everywhere with him and always wants me to stop disappearing and to watch TV with him, but by the time I’m focused on something the channel is changed and something totally different is on.  This happens daily.  He can’t watch TV without changing the channel every 5 minutes.  Am I alone here???  I don’t think so, but I would love to hear from you on this subject.

Personally, I just can’t stand it!  Of course I have to excuse myself after awhile and go upstairs to watch the other TV, or get into a book, or perhaps more work, or anything else worthwhile.  When subjected to this constant flipping of channels, I’d rather do just about anything else.

Spring is here at last!

Finally the Spring Equinox arrives promising warmer weather soon.  It is still chilly here but the birds, chipmunks and rabbits seem to know it's time to get busy, so they spend the day running about and chirping.  Of course this keeps the cats glued to the windows for hours.

We've only been teased by Mother Nature so far, but hopefully we'll be able to leave the windows open soon before it's A/C time.  At least we got rid of the last storm and had bright sunshine today and the leaves will be budding out soon.  Some of the trees are in bloom already.  I hope everyone enjoyed their day.  Spring is a time of new beginnings for all.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I hope all of you have had a great day!  It seems rather Irish-like here today with the rain, although not much green since I live in the desert.  The sagebrush is green though.  That's about as good as it gets here.  But the red rock formations are gorgeous!

The Windows are Open! Yippee!

Finally it is getting warm enough to open the windows!  This is supposed to be short-lived because we have a storm coming over the weekend but I'm really enjoying it now.

And of course the cats are too.  They love watching the birds who are really chirping away and having a great time in the birdbath and eating us out of house and home.  I'll post a pic of that community pool when I find it.  I've got too many pics that are disorganized - no time to take care of things!

My life is really one BIG rat race all the time!

Playing with the clocks again!

Well, I don't know what anyone else thinks about daylight savings time, but if you really think about this, it is just an illusion.  Mankind plays with the clocks twice a year and for what reason?

Supposedly this all started because they wanted to have less need to turn lights on for the people who used to farm years ago.  But did anyone really THINK about this??  I think not because people either use lights in the morning or at night, so this DOES NOT save any energy if that was the purpose.

And as far as having more light in the evenings when you are home from work - well the days get longer anyway on their own as the year rolls around toward summer.

Maybe I should move to AZ or HA and I wouldn't have to contemplate this twice a year.  There have been some years I don't even change the one in my car at all.  And it's usually a month before I get around to changing the one on my office.  It's probably a good thing my cell and computer change automatically.

Actually if I had my way I'd probably throw all the clocks in the house out the window!

Sometimes Life Just Hands you Crap!

Or at least that was what I thought when I got up to face a dusty house that needs cleaning, a cat throw up and piles of paper and stuff everywhere to be picked up.  But do you think I could get to that?  No way!  I had to delve into a dull manuscript I’m editing that is full of medical jargon that entails looking up every other word to see if it is indeed even a word.  That’s when Google is my best friend.  Big sigh!  At least I have all the tax stuff added up and written on a worksheet to be delivered to the accountant.  But my office floor is still filled with stacks of papers.  Oh well……..it will be there when I get to it.

Its times like these that you have to keep the old positive attitude and fall back on the saying that was engrained in us as kids “things could always be worse.”

Time to Dust off the Calculator and Gather Stuff

That dreaded time of the year has arrived once again.  I’ve spent the last three days gathering and adding all the crap needed for taxes.  Ugh!  I’m so glad it is about ready to go.  Somehow that always ends up being my job every year.

Now I’m looking forward to spring and hope it warms up around here pretty quick.  I’m not a very happy camper when it’s cold, but I do my best to stay cheerful anyway.  After all, there is nothing you can do about it.
