Cat Duty Again

 Snuggles

I can never say no when it comes to fur babies so when my neighbor asks me to take care of her cat, I always do it.  The cat is no trouble and she lives just across the street so I don’t need to drive anywhere.  I do wonder what she’ll do if I ever move though because chances of me staying here forever are slim.

There's something about cats and the sink

I feel sorry for this cat that has to spend so much time alone.  Cats are solitary animals but still she likes to see people once in a while.  I imagine she wonders where her owner is and when she’s coming back.  I always give her the countdown in days before I leave.  I have no idea if she understands me or not but I fell better for telling her.  Animals are always smarter than we think.

This cat gets into about as much mischief as Raven

So for the next two weeks I’ll be rushing over after work to do my cat duty before I get out of my clothes and sit down.  Once I sit down it’s all over for the night.

  1. That does sound like a long time to be alone for the cat, lots of time for mischief!

    1. Betty,

This cat knows how to open drawers and cabinets. It even turns the ceiling fan on. She's very smart.

      Thanks for reading.

  2. Very pretty kitty. That is sad that she is alone so much.

    1. pilch,

I agree. I hate that she gets left alone so much. I try to spend some time with her when I go over each day but my time is limited sometimes because I also work. Unfortunately I'm in a rush quite a bit. Raven loves to visit so sometimes I take him over and let them play an hour. My neighbor doesn't mind.

      Thanks for reading.

  3. I think pets left alone (cats and dogs) wonder if they've been abandoned. . .my daughter has to leave her cat alone a lot. I told her if he gets psychotic, it's her own doing. I've had to do cat duty for her many times. She has a Hemingway cat (the cats with five claws) who isn't a cuddly cat with anyone but her. But I talk to him when I'm there and he meows back. . .

    1. DG,

Maybe cats like this need the company of other cats. Snuggles won't let me hold her either. She loves to be petted but when she's on the floor and not on my lap. I know she likes me though and will try to engage me in running and playing with her.

      Thanks for reading.

  4. Did you ever think about catnapping (bringing her to "visit" at your house until her owner returns)?

I had no idea cats in sinks were things until recently. Did you know you can Google cats in sinks and get all sorts of strange images?

    1. Liz,

I could cat-nap her and the owner wouldn't mind but I have three cats of my own. Two of them wouldn't be too thrilled about a new cat in the house. Plus I work and couldn't leave them all unattended while I'm gone.

No, I've never googled cats in sinks but I can imagine I'd find a lot of stuff on there.

      Thanks for reading.
