Does anyone get tired of this besides me? It is on 24/7 at my house. I am so sick of the whole mess I could actually go out in the desert and scream! I’m not kidding! I will be so glad when the whole thing is over. However, of course we all know, it will never be over.Personally, I don’t think any candidate is worth voting for so that is an issue for me. Politicians do not have any of our best interests in mind, don’t you forget it. They only say what you want to hear in order to get elected because then they have it made with a prestigious title, salary, benefits, retirement the rest of us don’t have. I will never change my mind about this, or it will take an awful lot of convincing.
But when you look at the world, I think its always been like this, it’s just more prevalent now with the TV, the internet and news able to travel everywhere almost at the same time its being made. Years ago, it took weeks, if not months, to get news from one place to another. The politicians haven’t changed in all that time, still having their own interests at heart.
They screw the people over, always have, and always will, to get the money for their own agendas. They have no idea what it is like to live in the real world because they don’t have to do it and make ends meet. I have no compassion for these people. There are no saviors to solve the world’s problems out there. For the ones who think so, you certainly have your head in the sand.
This is a subject where my husband is the eternal optimist, as long as a Republican is in office. I never have and refuse to vote by any party ticket. I think we should judge each person running on their own merits and none of them has any I can agree with. Politics is a hot topic at my house; I try to stay away from this if possible. My husband is about as passionate here as I am about writing. It is his whole world. We have to eat on TV trays every night so he can catch all the political talking heads he watches daily.
When these politicians talk it reminds me of the only time I was on a jury for a trial, don’t ask me why that flashes through my head. The thing that struck me most about that experience is that there was a definite difference in the lawyers, one was a little mouse, and the other was dynamic. I don’t need to tell you whose side won.
There are no dynamic, charismatic people this year, so nobody stands out from the herd, at least in my opinion. They all promise the same thing and we all know, or should know, from experience that they never deliver. This country is in desperate need of a third party, one that would be different and actually work for the people who elected them. Sadly, this will probably not happen anytime soon, if at all.
After November 6, 2012, I'm confident that we'll hear predictions, prognostications, and probabilities about 2014 and 2016.
ReplyDeleteHi Writing Coach,
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you're right about all of that. It seems there is no end. No matter who gets elected, it will never stop all the analysis and discussions.
Naturally, I hope things get better for our country, however I have my doubts at this point. I think this is my first post about politics and probably will be the last one, as I stay away from that subject, but I had to vent. It is always on at my house and sometimes I get so tired of it all that I want to go out in the desert in back and scream. Of course I realize that won't change anything either. I retreat to my office upstairs a lot of the time.
Thanks for reading my rant and commenting.

Sunni, I can imagine how the whole thing must invade your life... and every-one talks so noisily! And I can't bear all the point scoring. Ar least last time round, the whole world had a good laugh along with Sarah Palin! NO fun at all this time!
ReplyDeleteI think you and the cats should just tune out and enjoy each other, and let the world go by until its all over!LOve valerie
Valerie,
ReplyDeleteYou're absolutely right! I hate all the noise and the people talking over each other trying to make sure they get their word in.
I try to retreat upstairs as much as I can. It is always on around here most of the time - the husband doesn't want to misss anything, even if it's just the same old rehash from yesterday, or the program before.
It is such a situation that we have to eat dinner on TV trays in front of the TV.
Thanks for reading and posting.

I don't trust many politicians, but I think some may be more trustworthy than others. I'm not happy with the choices this year, but I'm not happy with what we've had in office for the past term. It's time for another change I think. Real change rarely comes though--just a variation on old themes.

Tossing It Out
Lee,
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading and leaving a oomment. It is very unlike me to write a post on politics or religion - what did Mama always say? I was venting for the most part because my husband is into this big time. I get so sick of it being a part of my daily life.
I have to agree with you on the candidates. There isn't really the choice I'd like to see (I don't like either one), but I don't think we can take another four years with the way things are either. It will always be a variation of themes until we get a third party, if that ever happens. A politician is a politician and never knows what life in the real world is like for the rest of us.
