I may chat about my books, what I'm writing or reading, or just general thoughts. You may read posts about my cats or just my crazy life in general. Comments are welcome, if anyone wants to interact with me. Maybe we can share war stories, whether it's writing related or just about life in general.

Do you believe in ghosts?

To set the mood - photo from unsplash

This might be a controversial subject because I think people either do or don’t and there is no middle ground.  My husband is one of the don’ts, but I definitely do.  I know at least some of my family members’ do, as well, having seen ghosts themselves.

The reason I’m even bringing this up is because I think my sister-in-law visited me about three weeks ago.  She was such a wonderful person and has been gone a number of years now.  She came to see me the day she died.  I was sitting in the closet putting on my makeup when she appeared in the doorway, a ghostly shape dressed in white.  I think she came to say goodbye.

This is my sister-in-law not long before she passed away.  RIP

Since then I’ve seen shadows out of the corner of my eye but I’m not really sure if the light is playing tricks with me, or she’s just checking on me.  Anyway I was in the shower about three or four weeks ago and a small jar of eye cream went flying off the shelf in my closet.  My closet doesn’t have a door so I can see in there while in the shower.  That bottle was at least six inches from the edge.  I just couldn’t figure out how it tumbled to the floor all on its own.  Then I thought it might be her checking on me again.

I know some of you are probably wondering why I put my makeup on in the closet.  I have no other place and the lights are good in there.  I keep my makeup and magnifying mirror on a shelf in the closet, so it’s convenient to sit on a stool and do my face every day.  Weird I know, but I have to work with what I have.

Have a great day everyone.  It’s to the shower and off to work for me.  I hate the night shift, but we all have to share.

The Women’s Expo

Women's Expo Sales Floor

They hold this event here twice a year.  I’ve never been to one in the eleven years we’ve lived here so this year I went with a girlfriend.  As the name implies, it’s all things for women: messages, nail polish, make-up, hair supplies, clothes, shoes, jewelry and handbags, plus a few other things.  They were even doing free mammogram screenings.

We wondered around all afternoon on Saturday trying on makeup, etc.  This was the last day of this event until fall.  They hold trade shows here on Friday and Saturday and never on Sundays.

I was impressed with the size of the expo because most shows here are very disappointing.  I may only think this way because I’m used to the shows held in California, which would run circles around the ones here.

We were making a last pass before leaving when a man shouted out from his booth, “Do you guys want one of these free?”  We walked a few feet and decided to go back and see what he was giving way.  It turned out he was an attorney for injury cases, but he had wireless blue tooth devices for cell phones on his table.  He had six left, said he was ready to leave, and was giving them away.  All he wanted in return was a like for his Facebook page.  We took one, thanked him and were on our way.

The next day I did live up to my word by liking his page.  I charged the device and I love it!  I had to go to the Verizon store to get it connected to my phone after an hour with no success on my  own, but it only took the guy there about two seconds.

 This clips to your ear.

This is something I really needed because, as of July 2014, it’s against the law to talk on your cell while driving.  I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.  This stuff never happens to me.
