Desert Sunrise 27 Sept 2016
I really have to share this with all of you. It’s not often I’m up to see the sunrise but
I’ve had to get up earlier than I would like lately due to work. A lot of the time it’s still dark outside and
me, being the night owl I am, I’m trying to shake the cobwebs out of my head.

Anyway, once I did make my way to the kitchen to start the
coffeepot, I saw all this early morning color blasting through my window
shades. I peeked out and had to grab the
camera and step out onto the patio in my skimpy PJ’s. I couldn’t let this shot pass me by. No one lives behind us anyway and if they did,
who would want to look at an old lady.
What other idiot would be up at this hour also went through my
head. Most of my neighbors are retired.

Of course the old verse red
sky in the morning, sailors take warning crossed my mind as well, but I
don’t know any sailors. I stood in awe
looking at all this beauty and snapping pictures in a panorama across the
backyard. Finally, I went back into the
house so I could get my coffee and get ready for work. That old clock never stops ticking, you
know. We don’t often get a sunrise this
pretty. Most of our skies like this are
sunsets. I guess getting my four hours
of sleep was worth it that morning.
So pretty!

Betty,
DeleteThank you! I just had to share. I don't usually get up early enough to see many sunrises. I would have missed this if I had a later schedule that day.

Good morning, Sunni! Thank you for sharing such dawning beauty! One thing for sure...no two sunrises or sunsets are exactly the same. For me this morn, it was an unusual sky lacking the brilliant color but making up the difference in its uniqueness, especially the cloud formation. Darn! I should have taken a picture. Too busy trying to see the little owls in the owlhouse my husband put up recently. Unfortunately a closer closer look revealed two baby squirrels! They, too, have such cute little faces :-)
ReplyDeleteSharla,
DeleteI love to watch the baby animals and birds here too. I try to keep a camera handy all the time. I like photographing clouds too. I have a folder with nothing but cloud pics on my computer.
Thanks for stopping by.

That is beautiful.
ReplyDeletepilch,
DeleteI might get up earlier if sunrise was like this all the time. I love the oranges and bright yellows.

Great shots.
ReplyDeleteI wonder about the retired thing, though. Don't retired people get up early. (Well, my father gets up way early. But he's always been a morning person.)
Liz,
DeleteSome retired people are night owls. I worked in a nursing home years ago as the bookkeeper and they had to drag some of those people out of bed for breakfast. Some of them wouldn't get up and just skipped it. And we had an old man living next door here who would stay up until about 3 am every day. I know I'll be the same. I've been a night owl all my life. When I visit my sisters in TX I'm always up way after they've gone to bed unless I'm at the night owl's house. I have one sister like me.

Wonderful pictures!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carol. We get some gorgeous skies here so I guess that's something good about living in a climate with extreme conditions.
DeleteThanks for leaving a comment.
