Tarantula on patio
We haven’t seen one of these guys around all summer. We caught him on the patio a few nights
ago. I think tarantulas are generally
harmless unless they’re cornered and then they can inflict a nasty bite, but
the good news is it won’t kill you.
Tarantula on patio
One year we had these guys all over the back wall of the
house. We heard later it was some sort
of mating ritual. Evidently, a lot of
people saw them. These spiders stay in
the desert most of the time and rarely come into the yard.
You can see him behind the water dish. I imagine he comes to drink like all the other critters
Live and let live would be my motto. Interesting visitor.

Betty,
DeleteI agree. We never tamper with them. We just put water out and hopefully this thing will eat some bugs.

EEKS! I like spiders, but those are scary.
ReplyDeletepilch,
DeleteWe can have some mean looking spiders around the desert. Some of them are harmless and some not. We avoid all of them and just let them come and go outside. I don't like them in the house.

I have never seen one of those in real life. I expect that if I did, my blasé nature towards spiders might change.
ReplyDeleteLiz,
DeleteReally??? Well these are enormous spiders with hairy legs. They can be quite scary looking. There are others around here that aren't quite as large and don't have hairy legs, but they look quite sturdy looking. I wouldn't want to tangle with one.
