Sorry to have neglected this blog so long. I was away visiting family out of state and am back home now. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to post before this because I had to recuperate. (You don’t know my family). It’s always non-stop action with no schedule, which I love, but such things can wear you out. I was living out of a suitcase, until my sister suggested I just take things around in a shopping bag when I changed sibling’s houses. This worked out very well, but she’s a lot smarter about this type of thing, plus she has an endless supply of cute, reusable shopping bags in all sizes.
When I got home I went to bed and slept fifteen hours. I was exhausted and since then I’m back at
work almost every day.
This is my sweet mother
I think I was able to visit almost everyone during that fast
two weeks. I even got to meet my new
great niece who was celebrating her first birthday party in style with a good
old fashioned Texas barbecue. No one can
make barbecue like Texans. My brother in
law (and the birthday girl’s grandfather) stayed up all night cooking brisket,
sausage, pork and chicken on the pit. Naturally,
there were baked beans and country potatoes and lots of other trimmings, not to
mention all the homemade desserts. Somehow
I came back from that trip weighing the same amount as when I left, thank
goodness.
I’ll write more about some of my visit soon. I took 455 pictures and we had many
adventures. Of course a lot of talking
and laughter happened all the time. There’s
no better medicine than that.
I was wondering why your post wasn't popping in my email. I don't comment much but I'm reading :). I can see the signs of dementia in my mom but its just forgetting things and saying things over and over. Glad your mom recognized you and you had a good visit. Welcome back.
ReplyDeleteLittle cajun,
DeleteThanks. I'm glad my mom knew who I was too. It hit her when she realized my sister and I were both there. (We look a lot alike).
Hopefully, I can write up some brief posts about my adventures.
Thanks for reading.

Welcome back Sunni! I'm happy you had a great trip. Your mom does look sweet. I have a large family and so does my husband. When we get together it's non-stop and exhausting, so I know how you feel. You made me so hungry just now. That Texas barbecue sounds scrumptious! Look forward to seeing some of the pictures.
ReplyDeleteVashti,
DeleteI intend to post some family pictures and some about my adventures. My brother-in-law makes the best barbecue. He always puts on extra meat and sells it. I'm not sure how many more years these overnight barbecue escapades will last.
Thanks for reading. It sounds like you know what a big family is like.

Did you just pull the number 455 out of your head, or did you really take that many pictures? Wow. Glad you got a chance to visit with your mother.
ReplyDeleteJohn,
DeleteNo, I really took that many pictures. It's unbelievable, isn't it? I cleaned off my camera card before I left and downloaded it once I was back.
Yes, I was over to see my mom at the nursing home almost everyday I was there. We'd stay half the day at least, sometimes longer.
Thanks for reading.

Welcome back! I am glad your visit with your mother went well.
ReplyDeletepilch,
DeleteThank you so much. I'm glad my visit went well too because I really wondered if she'd remember me. Her mind is really going.

Glad you had a good trip. Often one needs a vacation from the vacation.
ReplyDeleteLiz,
DeleteYou're right. I think that applies with my family for little sleep is to be had when I'm there.
