Okay, this is not the kind of thing I usually post, but my
girlfriends and I were talking a few weeks ago and this subject came up. I guess call me behind the times or too old
to know what’s happening, but I swear I’ve never heard this term before. Do any of you know what “thigh gap” is and
have you ever heard of it? Sorry, there
is no picture for this one.
It occurred to me that females can really talk about some
crazy things. It seems this term refers
to the gap between your legs.
“What?” I asked. “Are you serious?” Yes, this is a real term, supposedly. If your legs rub together at the top you’re
fat and not sexy according to the current train of thought going around. You don’t have “thigh gap,” which is a
preferred thing. Hmmm…
Okay now, I’ve never been concerned over this at all. I have skinny legs and always have had, but
still I don’t think I’d be concerned with this even if I had fat legs. I actually couldn’t even believe we were
discussing this.
I think that’s enough said on this subject. It just shows you the crazy places that the
minds of people can go. Surely there’s
more to talk about than anatomy parts.
Have any of you heard of this term?
I have heard that term; there is also another one that I can't remember right now, but its describing fat that might hang over one's pants; something midriff cupcake or something like that. I'm guilty of having both of those myself :)

"Muffin top".
DeleteBetty,
DeleteI think you mean muffin top, as Liz mentioned below. Some of the subjects that come up are amazing. I've never heard these terms until recently. Maybe I'm behind the times, or don't get out that much. LOL
Thanks for reading and your comment.

Muffin top and I have it and no thigh gap as well! Ha! LOL!

Shirl,
DeleteThis is a crazy subject to bring up, isn't it?
Thanks for your comment and for stopping by to read my ramblings.

I think it's a social media phenom intended to further segregate the 'perfect' body from all the realistic ones. It's a term mainly used by young females who have nothing more of consequence to occupy their vacant minds. It can also be called a contributor to all the young girls who contract anorexia or other eating disorders, trying to fit a ridiculous body image.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...this is definitely food for thought. You could be right, DG. I'm way beyond a young girl's age so maybe that's why I never heard this term before.
DeleteThanks for your comment.

Oh yeah, I've heard of it. Unfortunately. I've never had a "thigh gap", and those who obsessively discuss such things are people I don't talk to.
ReplyDeleteLiz,
DeleteI'm not even sure how this came up as a discussion between me and some girlfriends who are all over fifty. I actually couldn't even believe there was such a term and people talked about this stuff at our age.
Thanks for your comment.

I've heard of it and think it's so silly. As if women don't have enough body issues. *shakes head*
ReplyDeleteChrys,
DeleteI agree. There are enough issues without adding something.
Thanks for reading and your comment.
