Which is the worst of the necessary evils?

This week family members and friends will be going through some medical procedures.  Which would you pick and why, if you had to pick something from the following list?

Carotid artery surgery

Colonoscopy

Root canal

I’m just curious and surprised this stuff landed on the same day.  Along with this, someone will be celebrating a birthday and another will be in divorce court in an ugly divorce battle.  I guess Aug 4 will be marked on the calendar this year.

All these things remind me how life goes on and there’s stuff like this happening everyday to people across the globe, yet it’s things we don’t often think about when it’s not in our own backyard.

  1. Gosh, interesting choices. I've type up all of these in my line of work, LOL, and have had a root canal which wasn't too bad. I'm going with that, the root canal, though I think a colonoscopy takes a shorter amount of time, though more prepping.

    1. Betty,

I just posted this because I found it strange that this would all take place on the same day. My husband chose the root canal too, although I'm sure my little sister might disagree with that right now, but I know she woudn't want the other two either.

The colonoscopy turned out all right, although there was lots of prep and two days with little sleep. I haven't heard on the artery surgery yet.

I didn't know you did this sort of work in the past.

Thanks for reading and taking my survey.

  2. Yesterday I had a root canal.... wasn't quite as bad as I thought it would be... but was quite funny when the Dentist hit a sore spot and my leg went flying into the air!!!
I have also had colonoscopy... and that wasn't too bad either (I actually had the endoscopy done as well so had to do quite a bit of prep work before going having the camera sent down and up!)
Thankfully no carotid artery surgery... will try and stay away from that one!
Hope all went well for everyone having the various surgeries!
    hugs xx

    1. Noni,

Oh my! I can only imagine having all those procedures. A lot of times the prep is actually worse than the procedure itself. I haven't heard how the artery surgery turned out yet, but the others are okay.

Thanks for reading and leaving a comment.

    1. Liz,

I guess you could say that.

      Thanks for reading.

  4. Colonoscopy––all the way! I've had two colonoscopies already because I have IBS and have had polyps in the past. Yes, the prep is unpleasant but the procedure itself is no big deal and they give you some good stuff to put you out. I always wake up so refreshed afterward and never have any pain. Not even when I had polyps. Carotid surgery sounds a lot more invasive and dangerous and I hate anything done to my teeth and gums. So there you have it. ;D

    1. Vashti,

Thank you for reading and leaving a comment. I have to agree the cleanout for colonoscopy is not a picnic. I didn't know you had IBS. I hope there's something they can do for that.

There's no way I'd want the carotid artery surgery either. That sounds like some scary stuff. Thankfully, I have good teeth, so far.
